"Well I remember we were in Malaya and the CO called us out on the parade, every man Jack of the battalion was called onto parade and we circled around him, all the cooks, bottle washers, everybody was out there and he told us that we were going overseas to Borneo and it was completely secret. Wives weren't to be told, nobody was to be told and after the operations it wasn't to be spoken about at all and I think in probably 100% cases that was the way it was."
